Clairmont Crest Residents Enjoy the Cultural Arts
This year has been a season of art and culture indulgence for the residents of Clairmont Crest as they have traveled to, and had brought to them, a plethora of art, music, and drama.
To begin the season residents were entertained by talented artists from their own family. Ms. Theresa Breuer, CC resident, designs and creates puppets,
then uses them to give informative and inspiring lectures. Her reformation characters told the historical events from that period of time in a manner that was unique and spell-binding. Ms. Bauer’s puppets and reformation display were on exhibit for a period following the presentation.
As a lighter accompaniment for the evening’s pleasure, Miss Jessica
Bosworth gave a rendition of her songs and role as Annie. Jessica is the daughter of Richie Bosworth, an administrative employee of Baptist Retirement Communities; she had the leading part in the Cobb Playhouse Theater’s production of Annie
during the Christmas and early New Year’s presentations.
She came to Clairmont Crest in costume and visited with residents after entertaining them with songs from the musical. Jessica’s charming presence made a delightful evening for all.
Early in the summer Mrs. Zelda Ridley, Director of Activities and Assistant Administrator for Clairmont Crest, arranged for a celebrated local artist to treat residents to a private showing of his works. Arthur Parks, Jr. had the distinctive honor of creating the poster for the Atlanta Dogwood
Festival. Parks has received numerous honors and awards and has exhibited in a number of one-man and group art shows in Chicago, Atlanta galleries and venues throughout the State of Georgia. His works can be found in private collections across the country. This private exhibit was quite exciting as the beginning of an artistic summer pursuit.
A tour of Atlanta Botanical Gardens presented opportunity for residents to enjoy the exhibits of renowned artist Dale Chihuly. This day-long event provided plenty of exercise, sunshine, and wonderful photographic adventure.
September brings an end to summer, but residents of Clairmont Crest
have sweet memories of travel, entertainment and enjoyment as they recall their encounter with cultural arts. Some have a permanent memento purchased from one of the exhibits. All are enthusiastic about future opportunities to embrace the arts.
