Clairmont Crest Cybercenter

Twenty-two residents of Clairmont Crest participated in the community’s first Basic Computer Training Course. Clairmont Crest Cybercenter, the creation of Assistant Manager and Activities Director, Mrs. Zelda Ridley opened doors for training classes in late June. The Center was actually a joint project conducted by Assistant Manager Zelda Ridley and Controller Bob Heslep who secured equipment and made certain the technical requirements for such an endeavor were adequate.

Mr. Emanuel Ridley volunteered as instructor and met in group training classes then one on one lab sessions with all participants. Sessions were held on Tuesdays and Thursdays for day and evening students. Residents learned the basic skills necessary to surf the web, send and receive e-mails and to create documents. At the close of the course participants were truly “connected” to the world of cyberspace. A new and modern means of communicating became available for keeping in touch with family and friends.

An award celebration luncheon was held at the end of the course. Certificates were presented to proud participants by Manager Jerry Morrone. Asked about the experience many had glowing compliments for the kind patience of their instructor, Emanuel Ridley. “The course was a great learning experience” said many. “It helped me to realize I can learn new things.” Mrs. Ridley has a goal for the activity ministry in the community to help residents stay alert, active, and possess feelings of accomplishment. The creation of the Cybercenter and this computer training class certainly made this goal a reality.
