New Orleans Seminary Faculty at Clairmont Crest
When Katrina forced the New Orleans Baptist Seminary to temporarily close the faculty quickly made arrangements for students to continue studies at the Atlanta based campus located at Columbia Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia. Clairmont Crest opened several apartments to make room for displaced faculty and families to live.
Response from residents of Clairmont Crest, friends, and churches was immediate and overwhelmingly generous. Food, clothing, staples, and household furnishings were donated. Working tirelessly together the staff of Clairmont Crest and local faculty representatives organized donations and completed 26 apartments for guests to occupy. Residents made certain that each faculty received a warm welcome. Faculty members responded by forming fast friendships and joining in worship services and other activities taking place at Clairmont Crest. All in all the new residents have made an impact on the retirement community that is positive and a joy to experience. The love of Christian fellowship shines through even in tough times and is most apparent as these families interact.
