YES, IT'S TRUE. WE ARE MOVING!

Baptist Retirement Communities’ Board of Trustees has prayed for God’s guidance to help resolve concerns with our Baptist Inn Community. The main building is dated and even though maintenance has been diligent, there are some modernizations that just cannot be done without extreme measures and exorbitant costs. The steadily increasing traffic on Hudson Bridge Road has become a major safety concern. Our residents and families suffer long delays to get in and out of the entrance. The congested traffic makes shopping, visiting, and traveling difficult. When Wal-Mart approached us about purchasing the property we all felt we were getting an answer to our prayers. Indeed we expect to be able to replace the present communities on our newly selected site in Palmetto, Georgia . This is important for us to be able to do because we are committed to keeping our mission: To provide secure housing for senior adults, at affordable rates within a Christian environment. Our rent rates will not be substantially increased due to the new community.

In a communication to families and sponsors Baptist Communities’ President Miss Laura Willis described the new project: “We will be purchasing 25 acres from the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home and Family Ministries. Our plan is to build a new Garrison Home under the same roof with separate entrances. The new Baptist Inn will have studio Apartments rather than just a room and bath. We will still have apartments for independent living. All of this will be located on a small lake off Water Works Road in Palmetto, Georgia. We anticipate making the move sometime in summer of 2005. All residents who choose to move with us will have their moving expenses paid by us.”

Close proximity with the Children’s Ministry will offer opportunity for intergenerational experiences for residents of both ministries. Both ministries are excited about the arrangement.

As moving time draws near there will be many projects and opportunities for our churches and organizations to volunteer and enjoy participation in the excitement.

We will keep you informed. If you are in the neighborhood stop by to see our beautiful new home site. You might be inspired to start planning your move with us.
