May 2003Clairmont Crest TravelersClairmont Crest residents have formed a travel club, known as the Clairmont Crest Travelers. These energetic seniors have embarked upon an exciting program that includes both local and extended adventures. The group meets regularly and plans activities. For the more involved trips they utilize a travel agency, but use their own creativity and various interests to organize local trips. This month they will be taking a day trip to Calloway Gardens. After reviewing brochures and slide presentations from the travel agency the group decided upon a three day excursion to New York for this fall. This trip will include a Broadway show, the Metropolitan Opera, a tour of Ellis Island and of course a shopping spree. They have travel options of train or plane to arrive at their destination. During early December of last year the group enjoyed a four day cruise to the Bahamas. They are looking forward to perhaps an extended cruise next year. These trips whether brief or prolonged are well thought out and planned with the excellent guidance of Clairmont Crest’s Activities Coordinator, Mrs. Zelda Ridley who is herself a seasoned traveler. The variety and combination of short half-day or one event excursions with longer two to four day vacations offers something of interest and value for all those living at Clairmont Crest. The Traveler’s Club is just one of the many opportunities afforded seniors in this active community to fellowship and form friendships that enrich life. |
