The Darlings of Clairmont Crestwith the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra String Trio
For Valentine's Day, the residents of Clairmont Crest were treated to a spectacular performance by a
String Trio from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Selections of chamber music with pieces from classical composers like Mozart, Hayden, Beethoven, and Bach, were played in three-part harmony by musicians playing......
a violin,.............. a viola,....................... and a cello.
To open the event, Mrs. Zelda Ridley,
Assistant Administrator and Director of Activities, introduced Sherry Blackshear, founder of the Celebrate Life Foundation. This organization offers programs that include events like live entertainment through music, to enhance the
quality of life for "seasoned" citizens in communities like Clairmont Crest. As Sponsor for this event to enjoy the holiday of love, the Celebrate Life Foundation organized the concert by the String Trio to introduce the special ceremony to Crown the Darlings of Clairmont Crest. This represents the smallest venue in which the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra has performed so far this year.
For the crowning ceremony, many nominations were received for fellow residents who met the criteria of being kind, caring, friendly, or willing to help others in the community. The two crowned as Darlings were Ms. Betty Hunnicutt and Dr. Perry Ginn, with first runner-up positions awarded to Ms. Betty Butler and Mr. Bill Caudle.
As a helpful volunteer at Clairmont Crest, Betty Hunnicut
t has been very active in helping set up for local events, and in serving and cleaning up to assist with social gatherings such as The Tuesday Bible Study. As a special treat, Betty will occasionally even provide refreshments enjoyed by those attending the Bible Study.
Prayer Meeting time on Thursday nights is
when you will hear Dr. Ginn present a message of hope. During these, he leads a time of prayer and praise, always addressing prayer requests for any who are sick or in need of care. And as a special treat, you can occasionally hear him reading poems, some of which he wrote.
For this event, the reception was sponsored by Publix of Toco Hills, which provided sandwiches and cakes for the holiday festivities.
