Merry Christmas!
Christmas at Clairmont Crest
We all know the season of joy has arrived when we once again hear the soft background carols and see the lobbies, halls, and grounds come alive with the many vibrant colors and symbols of Christmas. Each year Mrs. Zelda Ridley leads the celebration in a series of month-long activities designed to inspire, tantalize and please residents into reaping the most enjoyment from this blessed time of year.
Residents begin the month with the grand opening of the Clairmont Crest Gift Shop — a special showing of treasures and crafts that make unique and nifty presents (to review the Gift Shop, click here). The gift shop enables residents to both sell and shop, which gets them quickly into the Holiday spirit.
The next big event is the annual “Trim the Tree, Deck the Halls”(to see the tree trimmers, click here), which will take a few days to accomplish. Everyone is invited to turn out and join in the fun as they turn Clairmont Crest lobbies, halls and activity areas into winter showplaces. Once decorated, the community begins to celebrate in earnest:
-
December 4 — Holiday Gift Shop opens, with some items made
by residents
-
December 5 — Piano Concert — bus transport for this event at Mountain Park Baptist Church.
-
December 6 — Birthday party for residents with birthdays, November and December — food fun and entertainment.
-
December 12 — Bus trip to Decatur Civic Chorus Concert
-
December 13 — Christmas Open House for Residents
-
December 17 — Bus trip for First Baptist Church Atlanta Holiday Dinner Theater
-
December 20 — Holiday Sing-a-Long and Cider Sip in the Courtyard
-
December 28 — Pot Luck Breakfast—bring a dish of favorite breakfast food
-
December 30 — Retirement party for Administrator, Jerry Morrone
-
December 31 — New Year’s Eve Service at Valley Brook Baptist Church with CC resident, Pastor Dr. Perry Ginn
A highlight of this active
season of celebration will be the Resident Open House when residents open their homes to show their decorated apartments and share their favorite Christmas “goodies” with other residents.
In true Christmas spirit tours are formed in groups of 8-10 for tours of all the open homes. Prizes are awarded for decorations and also door prizes for participants. This is an evening packed with warm hospitality, sweet fellowship and delicious treats. Mrs. Ridley has made this annual festivity a star for the Clairmont Crest Celebrations.
And as usual, weekly Tuesday afternoon Bible Study and Thursday Prayer
Service will have traditional holiday services in the Clairmont Crest Chapel.
