Easter - the Ultimate Holiday
Those dates we see on our calendars marked as holidays are often celebrations of our relationship with the Lord. Our two biggest, of course, are Christmas and Easter, with Easter being the grandest holiday ever celebrated. The word holiday evolved from the description of a "holy day" and our Easter is the celebration of the event that allows us to meet the one most holy one in existence!
Occasions for celebration this year include these:
March 22nd - group from Clairmont Crest goes to see the movie "The Passion of the Christ". Viewers were astounded by this film, as has been occurring in every location where it's currently showing.
April 2nd - group from Clairmont Crest attends the "The Passion Play" at the Atlanta Civic Center. Opinions were very positive on the portrayal of the Easter story by the drama team from the First Baptist Church of Atlanta.
April 5th, 6th, 7th and 9th - Holy Week Service at Clairmont Crest at 1:30
April 8th - Prayer Service at 7:00 and Holy Communion at 7:30 at Clairmont Crest
April 13th - Clairmont Crest Bible Study group held a Resurrection Celebration, with prayers and testimonials of how God has raised us from illnesses and negative situations. This ended with hymns of praise and victory, rejoicing in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
April 18th - Easter music by a combined choir from Tucker First Baptist Church and Clairmont Hills Baptist Church presented at CHBC during the evening service
A beautiful reminder of Easter is the advent of Spring. With the appearance of blooms in many colors, shapes and sizes, we are reminded of how our surrounding flowers are so wonderfully designed. This picture was taken at the location in south Georgia know as Norman Park Baptist Assembly.
The white dogwood flowers always miraculously appear on schedule for Easter, regardless of whether we have an early one in March or a later one in April as it is this year.
On the previous page, you were introduced to the Community News for April with a picture of three dogwood blooms reminding us of the three crosses so important to the Easter story. Legend surrounds the bloom of the dogwood - "the four petals of each bloom form the cross, the center is said to represent the Crown of Thorns, and the single notch at the edge of each pristine white "petal" suggests Christ's wounds on the cross--nail prints brown with rust and stained with red."

Shown next to this dogwood, the azalea blooms are always a welcome site, appearing in a variety of colors; these are the shade of dark pink in the large bloom variety.
