Hiawassee Park

Phase I construction is complete for a new retirement community in Hiawassee, Georgia. The community, for those age 50 and above, is located on Highway 76 and overlooks Chatuge Lake and surrounding north Georgia mountains. (See map.)

Sixty-three independent and twenty-four assisted units will be located in a "Manor House" type facility to include a dining room, library, crafts and activities room, chapel, beauty/barber shop, exercise room and laundries. The independent units are generally one bedroom units ranging from 615-825 square feet. These units include a small kitchen area with a microwave, sink and refrigerator. Extensive cooking is not allowed in the units since all meals are included in the rental rate. Limited two bedroom units of about 1,170 square feet will also be included in the Manor House. These units include two bathrooms, a living room, two bedrooms and the kitchen area with the same equipment as the one bedroom units. Utilites are included in the rent for both the one and two bedroom units as well as three meals a day. Pets may be kept in the units subject to a pet deposit. (See "manor house" layouts.)

Twenty-four assisted living units will be available three years after opening the "manor house" for those who require some assistance with their medications or limited care. These residents must be ambulatory and be able to go to the dining room. These units have 322 square feet of space which allows for two single beds and some furniture. A bathroom and adequate closet space is provided. Caregivers are on duty 24/7 for these units.(See assisted living layout.)

Twenty-two separate cottages developed as duplex units have been built and are now being occupied. These cottages have 1,750 square feet with 2 bedrooms, two baths, a kitchen and dining area, a two-car garage, a living room and a sunroom. The cottages also provide an area where a full-sized washer and dryer may be located. (See cottage layout.) Each cottage has a view of mountains and the Lake Chatuge. No meals in the "manor house" will be provided but may be purchased in advance if needed. An additional 12 cottages will be completed in Phase II construction.
